“Raven heals from a loving heart for a tranquil surgical journey” —Sheldon Marc Feldman M.D. FACS, Chief of Breast Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons
Raven Keyes is a Reiki Master Teacher, Certified Hypnotherapist and Master Meditation Teacher. She was part of the original Complementary Alternative Medicine program at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital led by Dr. Mehmet Oz. Together with her business partner, Reiki Master John Keane, she has lectured to staff of the Rogison Institute at Cornell Hospital. John and Raven have brought Reiki to professional athletes in the NFL & NBA. Featured on TV and in national magazines such as “Vogue” and “W,” Raven was named “Best Reiki Master in New York” by New York Magazine. She was proclaimed “New Yorker of the Week” by news channel “NY-1” for providing volunteer Reiki services for 8 ½ months after 9/11, an honor she received through the nomination of the Chief of Police of the Port Authority Police Department.
Raven’s Integrative Medicine partner, John Keane is a Reiki Master who has worked in medicine and in the sports world as well. In the medical world, John has administered Reiki to patients of Dr. Sheldon Marc Feldman, including during surgery. He has also lectured to the medical staff at the Rogosin Institute of New York Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
His success in administering ProReiki™ to Charles Way, Director of Player Development for the New York Giants, led to being invited to bring Reiki to other NFL players, and subsequently to members of the NBA.
Reiki in the Hospital Setting
REIKI is finding its way into hospitals. Administered via gentle touch, this portable practice can even be helpful during surgery. Reiki brings feelings of calmness and wellbeing to the patient while it floods the body with the energy necessary for speedy healing. In our world today, Reiki is a very important tool for maintaining or restoring health. Reiki replaces lost energy and instills balance. When used during surgery, it has been found that benefits include: blood pressure remains steady, there is less bleeding, and less pain medications are necessary following surgery.
Reiki naturally instills feelings of power, calm and confidence in the patients who receive it as part of their protocol. It's very comforting and reassuring to have a Reiki master with you in the operating room to take care of YOU while you are under anesthesia.
It is not commonly understood that patients have the right to interview surgeons before selecting one to entrust with their operation. If you need surgery, we encourage you to seek out a surgeon you feel comfortable with, and ask if you can have a Reiki practitioner present during your surgery. The patients Raven works with have selected surgeons based on their answer to that question.
REIKI sessions can be useful before, during and after surgery. If you are interested, or have questions, contact one of the Carolinas certified Medical Reiki Masters. (link below)
